Drug labs
Empty warehouses, sheds and commercial properties are attractive to criminals. They sometimes use these locations to produce synthetic drugs, such as ecstasy, amphetamine, cocaine or crystal meth. Drug labs pose signifcant risks to local residents and businesses. Would you be able to spot a drug lab in your neigbourhood?
The impact of a drug lab is often greater than is immediately apparent. Drug labs are often set up in an unsafe manner, resulting in a high risk of fire, explosions and exposure to hazardous substances. Additionally, they often leave behind chemical waste or illegally dump it, causing damage to buildings, the soil and the natural environment. The presence of criminals also creates a sense of insecurity in the neighbourhood. People may be pressured or enticed into participating in criminal activities, and landlords may face the financial and legal consequences of a drug lab on their premises.
Have you noticed any suspicious activity around a vacant property in the area? You know what’s normal in your neighbourhood. That’s why you’re in a good position to notice when something isn’t quite right. Keep your neighbourhood safe and report any concerns anonymously.

Update: Theehuis Maricha in Maastricht blijft voorlopig dicht.
